About me and my practice
In my practice, I believe in a non-directive approach to counselling, based on my firm belief that you as a client, are the best expert on your own life and situation. During counselling, I will aim to hear you completely and carefully and with acceptance. I value diversity, and will seek to respect your values, choices and culture. I seek to provide a safe and facilitative therapeutic relationship, within which you feel unconditionally accepted and deeply understood. My own experience as both a client and a therapist has shown me that when people are met in this way, they will find within them the ability to move through difficulty and find their own way forward. I will endeavor to be alongside you whatever you wish to explore.
I offer online counselling via either synchronous messaging via WhatsApp, or videocall via Doxy, or asynchronous via email exchange.

Experience
I have been accredited with the BACP since 2014 and work within their Ethical Framework.
I am an approved therapist for Bupa and also see clients for a few EAPs when requested. I have extensive experience of counselling and offering therapeutic groups within a Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre and counselling in NHS primary care mental health services. I also have experience of working with people who have experienced bereavement and within a residential drug and alcohol treatment centre.
As a person-centred counsellor I prefer to see people in a holistic way, rather than by defining them by the issues that they may bring to counselling. Nevertheless I realise that it is reassuring for potential clients to be aware of what previous clients have brought to their sessions. These have included,
Self harm, Suicidal feelings, Addiction, Domestic Violence, Childhood Abuse and Neglect, Bereavement, Depression, Anxiety, Self-esteem, Body-image, Mental health issues, Sexual issues, Sexual Violence, Sexual abuse, Family issues, Relationships, Spirituality and Religious questioning, Parenting issues, Issues associated with aging.
Qualifications

Additional Information
Issues that I have particular experience supporting clients with are Depression, Sexual Abuse, Relationship and Family issues, Addictions, and Bereavement.
